Foundation

Center for Bioscience and Biotechnology (CBB) was founded by Prof. Dr. Tran Linh Thuoc under Decision No.31/TCCB of the president of University of Science, VNU-HCMC, dated December 14, 1996.
The center is currently run by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Hoang under Decision No.936/QD-KHTN-TCHC dated August 22, 2011.
Function

CBB is a science and technology organization that has been registered since December 2, 2013 with several functions as below:
- Scientific research and application development in Biology and Biotechnology.
- Experimental and commercial production related to the research outcome.
- Scientific and technological services; technology transfer consultancy (scientific and technological information transfer) as well as specialized training courses related to registered sectors.
- Domestic and international cooperation related to the registered sectors that comply with the provisions of law.
Mission & Vision

The main mission of CBB is using biology tools to research and develop technologies for application in agriculture, industry and medicine.
CBB aims to develop simple Biotechnological devices and materials to support domestic units in reducing the manufacture cost as well as avoiding being too much dependent on foreign tech-companies. Also, CBB will develop additional products related to cosmetics, supplements and medicine.
Structure & Cooperation
CBB is affiliated to Ho Chi Minh University of Science (HCMUS), under Vietnam National University system (VNU). Also, CBB has close cooperations with Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology (FBB) as well as Molecular technology laboratory.

CBB was founded by Prof. Dr. Tran Linh Thuoc in December, 1996. Currently, Prof. Dr. Tran Linh Thuoc and Prof. Wolfgang Schumann stand as honorary advisors.
